More pictures...

I have been taking pictures galore of Emery. He is just so cute and I don't want to miss anything. So, here are some of my favorites.

One of my favorite things to do with Emerson is have him sleep on me. It is so comforting. He is just a sweet little boy. Jason caught this picture when I was taking a nap the other day.

We went out and saw the eclipse the other night. Emerson loved going outside. He was awake and alert the whole time.

Bringing Home Baby

On Monday morning, we got to bring Emerson home from the hospital. We put him into his first little outfit that wasn't the hospital shirt. He looked so cute in it.

Here we are almost ready to go. Just waiting to sign all the discharge papers.

He looks so cute in his carseat. He likes to put his hands up next to his face and suck on his hand. Putting him in the carseat made it so his hands couldn't reach, so he started to cry and cry. Then we stuck the pacifer into his mouth and all of the sudden all as good again.

Here is Emerson getting into the car for his first car ride home. He did wonderful in the car.

When we got home, we just relaxed and enjoyed having out baby at home.

Labor and Delivery

At my doctor's appointment on Friday, I was told that I was 5 cm dialated and 90% effaced. My doctor said that she would be really surprised if I was not in labor by that night. So, Jason and I planned on having the baby that weekend. We pack our bags and got everything ready to go. Then, we went to our last dinner without a baby at Outback and walked around Target. After walking around for about a half an hour, I decided that I would like to try to get one more night sleep before the baby came, so we went on home.

On Saturday morning, I was lying in bed hoping that I would go into labor. I was thinking about all the things that I could do that day to put me into labor. I was going to go on a long walk and walk up and down the stairs. Then all of a sudden I felt like my water might have broke. It was just a little tiny bit, so I couldn't be sure. So, Jason and I decided that we should go into the hospital just to make sure if it did break or not. We hurried and ate something for breakfast and then went on our way to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 10:35 am and was taken straight to triage. Here they tested me to see if my water had broke, and it had! So, I was admitted into the hospital and was going to have the baby before I left.

We went off to the birthing room and got settled in. I still wasn't really having any contractions, or any that I was feeling that is, so, at 1:15 pm, they hooked me up to Pitosin and all the monitors. According to the monitors, I was having contractions just not feeling them. They wouldn't check my cervix until I was feeling my contractions a lot worse because there is a risk of infection with your water broken. So, I didn't know where I was at that point.

For the next couple of hours, the nurse came in uping my Pitosin and making sure that I was having contractions. My contractions were getting a lot more intense and frequent, but I still wasn't feeling them. They finally decided that they should check where I was after a while of me having contractions. I was at a 6. Then a few hours later, they checked again and I was at a 7. We started to think that I was going to have the baby that day. I, then, started to feel the contractions a little bit. I considered not getting an epidural, but then I decided why do that, in case it gets worse. So, I had them come and give me an epidural at 8:20 pm. It was fabulous. I didn't feel anything from then on...until the actual birth. I just sat and relaxed for a couple more hours being switched side to side.

I guess that there was a problem during the epidural though because all of the sudden all the nurses and doctors that had been helping me were in the room (2 nurses, a midwife, a med student, the anesthesiologist, and a doctor). They popped an oxygen mask on me and put some medicine into my IV. Then they put a internal fetal heart monitor onto the baby. I guess that my blood pressure went FAR down and was putting some stress on the baby. After a little while, they seemed to think things were fine and it calmed down. That was the only "complication" during my labor.

At about 10, I started to feel some pressure, but thought nothing of it. Then I told the doctor when she came in to ask how I was doing. So she checked and I was completely dialated and the baby's head was right there. She had me puch once to see if I was ready to and I guess I was. So, all the nurses and doctors came back into the room and at 10:20, I started to push. I pushed for a half of an hour and at 10:49, our little baby boy came into the world!!!

It was an amazing feeling having my little Emerson being laid on my chest. All I could think was that he is just perfect. He has all his parts, a good set of lungs, the cutest little face, and the sweetest cry. I just fell instantly in love with this little human being. That nine months of heartburn and all the aches and pains I went through, all became worth it. I had my son!

After a few minutes of having him on me, they took him and weighed him, measured him, and cleaned him. He weighed 7 lbs 9 oz. He was 19.5 inches long. And he cleaned up so well.
We are so excited to have our little Emerson with us! He brings such great joy to our home.

The Nursery

Finally! I have everything done for the baby's bedroom. I loved making the decor. It was a lot of fun and I think that it turned out really good. Sewing your own bedding is really nice because you get exactly what you want...not have to settle for something that you only half way like. So here it is, my "nursery"...

A little bit of an upper shot...
A little more detail of the fabrics...In case you didn't conclude from the name on the wall, we are naming him Emerson...Emery for short.

Week 37

Jason is a miracle worker! I am so glad that I am married to someone that can fix my mistakes.
I can now get pictures of the babe once he is here.

On Friday, I went to the doctor and found out that I was 3 cm dialated and 80% effaced, so it is just a matter of time until our little one is here. We are so excited for him to get here. So, who knows, these could be the last maternity pictures that I take of this pregnancy...we will see.

My Stupidity

On Saturday, Jason and I went and took a bunch more maternity pictures. I think that they turned out pretty cute and it was an awesome day...a rarity in this part of the states. So, I was looking through them on my camera waiting to put them on my computer after Jason was done using it. My camera is kind of new, so I still don't know what everything does. So, I was just going through seeing what all the buttons do. I went into a section called "format". I saw that my CF card was 1.6 G full and then I said "Okay" because I was done with that screen. Little did I know that I had just told it to format the CF card and it deleted all of my pictures. I was so discouraged. Now Jason is trying to recover all the pictures from it, but in order to do that we can't take any more pictures on my nice camera until they are recovered. So, now here I am hoping that I go into labor, but I won't have my nice camera to take the first pictures of my little baby, unless Jason can get it fixed today.

So, for all of you out there playing around with your carmera, do not go into the "Format" section unless you want to have all your pictures deleted.

Tagged...finally :)

A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
C. At the end of the game the player tags 5 people, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment letting them know they've been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

10 years ago:

I was in 8th grade. I was about to have my "1 year aniversary" with Benjamin Heaton. I was wishing so badly that I was 14, so I could go to church dances.

5 things on my to-do list today:
(well tomorrow because today is almost over)

1) Install the baby carseat
2) Clean basement and baby's room...so it is ready for when my mom comes.
3) Attempt to sleep
4) Hang up the baby's room decor
5) Go into labor if I am lucky :)

5 Snacks I enjoy:

1) I love pretty much anything chocolate.
2) Trix Fruit Snacks...I haven't been able to find them lately, but I love these
3) Bacardi's Strawberry Darquri
4) Chocolate covered pretzels
5) S'mores

5 Things I would do if I was a Billionaire:

1) Have the best baby nursery money can buy
2) Buy a bigger house
3) Buy me and all my sisters their dream car
4) Get all the scrapbooking supplies I want (this included the photography aspect of it)
5) Have Jason quit and stay home with me all the time

3 of my bad habits:

1) I bite my finger nails.
2) I forget to eat all day and when I do eat it is some sort of sweet.
3) Complain about every single little pain...kind of like "the boy who cried wolf"

5 places I have lived:

Taylorsville, Utah
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Atlanta, Georgia
Rexburg, Idaho
Beaverton, Oregon

Jobs that I have had:

Daycare Helper, Nanny, and Babysitter
Video Girl at Ingles
Glow Seller at Stone Mountain
Roller Skating Rink Attendant at BYU-Idaho
Early morning Janitor
EFY Counselor
Viking Sewing machine sells

5 things people don't know about me:

1) I love sleep...I would sleep all day everyday. Being pregnant is killing me because I can't sleep anymore.
2) I love to sew, but can't do one project for a long time. I make nursing cover to sell because each one is really fast, and I feel like I am getting to work on a bunch of different things because the fabric changes more frequently.
3) Jason has turned me into a gamer. I love playing computer games. It is sometimes all that I do in a day.
4) I am a den leader for a wolf pack. I am getting training for having a boy. Boys drive me crazy I have learned. I don't know how I am going to do it, but I am sure that it will work out in the end.
5) I went to the doctor on friday and found out that I am 3 centimeters dialated and 80% effaced, so hopefully that will mean that I will have this cutie here sometime in the next couple of weeks...not all the way to the due date.

5 people I tag are:
I don't know who hasn't already done this...I have seen it on almost everyone's blog that I read...so if you haven't already been tagged...consider yourself tagged.
