The Hair Cut

Last Sunday morning, Emerson's hair was this:
Now it is this:
I have always been one of those people that think that is someone looks like they need a hair cut to give them one...this includes my little kids. I am NOT someone that will wait until my child turns one to cut his hair even if they REALLY need a hair cut. So, Emerson's hair in back was getting really long, so I decided that the next time I cut Jason's hair then Emerson would get a hair cut too. So that time happened last Sunday morning. It was really sad cutting his hair, but I am super excited for it to all grow in evenly.

The Curse of the Bills's Feet

Something that Jason told me once, and then I just put it in the back of my mind and never thought about it again is that the Bills have wide feet that are hard to buy shoes for. I started looking for shoes for Emery ever since he was a little baby. I always went into the stores and bought these cute shoes that would definately be able to fit him, then I would come home and put them on and NO they wouldn't go on. Then I remembered this little tidbit that Jason told me. So, I decided that I should go to Stride Rite to get his feet measured, and sure enough the curse has been pasted on. My boy has WIDE feet. So, yesterday, we bought Emerson his first pair of shoes that fit him. They cost us $36...on sale (that is why we decided to buy them before he was walking). We bought them a little big so he can grow into them by time he is walking. I can't believe that we are going to have to spend that much pretty much every time he has to get a new pair of shoes. I hope that they slim up a little bit (like Jason's and not like his Grandpa Bills's).

They are super cute shoes (I think), but I don't think that Emerson likes shoes on because all he would do is kick his feet until they were off. We are just going to have to keep putting them on until he is used to them.

Stair time.

Last Friday night (October 17), just after Aunt Emily and Uncle Lyle went home, Emerson decided that it is time to climb stairs. He is so cute climbing them. Just so little. He really wants to only climb them when there is someone to climb to. The first time he was climbing up to Mommy! He especially loves to climb stairs when there is some food or a pacifer involved. Now we just have to work BIG time on the coming back down part. He has fallen down 2 stairs so far. Hopefully that will be all and he will learn quickly...he usually does.

I have 2/3 Year Old

Today Emerson turned 8 months old. He is getting so big and remaining just as cute. I just love this boy. He just makes me so happy.

Stats: (approximately as of 10/16)

Weight: 18.5 lbs
Height: 28 in

Where Emerson is now:

  • Size 2 diapers
  • Wide range of clothes (3-6 month to 12 month)
  • Sleeps terrible through the night in his own bed, but wonderful in with Mommy and Daddy. We think that we have figured out that he has separation anxiety. That is the only explantaion for what he does.
  • Crawls like crazy!
  • Stands up on anything that he can hang on to.
  • Is bad at taking pictures, would rather crawl and grab onto the camera
  • Drinks formula
  • Loves his food. Tonight we gave him his own plate at dinner for the first time. He loved having the same things as us.
  • Don't dislike any food...yet.
  • Drinks from a sippy cup.
  • Pulls hair
  • Loves walks
  • TALKS all the time
  • Sucks on his bottom lip
  • Makes messes with everything
  • Loves playing toys...more sucking on them
  • Has to touch Mommy face when falling asleep.
  • Loves Mommy and Daddy so much!

All about me...

and some pictures of Emerson.

I have been tagged by many people in the past couple months, so I finally am getting around to doing it. And I couldn't have a post all about me, so I added some of the newer pictures of Emery that I have taken.
100 Things about me: (I am sure that you can find 7 quirky things about me in it.)

1. I love online shopping! I do spend way too much money and time online. I think that it is so great that you can buy things without leaving my house…though I still do.
2. I love sleeping! Going to sleep at night is one of my favorite times of the day and waking up in the morning is the worst. At least, I have a great husband that will let me sleep through the night and not have to wake up with Emerson.
3. I am never completely satisfied with where I am in life. I think this is what keeps me going and becoming a better person. I do love where I am right now, but I know that I can be better if I work harder.
4. I love photographs of baby parts. My favorite ones of Emerson are of his hand and feet. He has an adorable face…but those hands and feet…
5. Sewing is one of my favorite hobbies…though the actual sewing part isn’t what I really enjoy. I love the cutting and preparing part of sewing.
6. I love word searches. They are just a great time waster.
7. My favorite restaurants are Outback and Red Robin. I think if I knew that I was eating my last meal it would be Cheese Fries from Outback and a Guacamole Bacon Burger from Red Robin. Loads of calories…but it would be my last meal…who cares!
8. I am a fabric addict. I am obsessed with going to the fabric store and buying fabric. I would buy fabric every day if I had the money. I have so much fabric that I have no idea what to use it for, but I just had to have it!
9. I have lost 10 lbs in the last 2 months! I have A LOT more to go…but that is a big accomplishment for me!
10. I love the smell of gasoline.
11. I was a math major in college.
12. When I go shopping, I shop for Emerson. I love buying him clothes and toys.

33. I was married on May 6, 2005 in the Jordan River Temple.
34. I chose the Jordan River Temple because when I was a little child, I remember driving through the parking lot there and seeing a bride. When I saw her, I said that I was going to be married there. I don’t know why that has always stuck with me, but I just had to fulfill that little girl’s wish.

51. I love the 5 hour Pride and Prejudice…this is one of my favorite movies.

Such a sweetie...

Emerson is just such a sweet little guy. I love taking pictures of him because he is just so cute.

Lately, he has been finding things that Mommy doesn't really want him to find. While we were taking pictures on Wednesday, he found a helocopter leaf on the ground. So, he picked it up and was looking at it.

Then he started getting curious and it went straight to the mouth. I don't think that he liked it because if the face he would give, but he put it in his mouth over and over again.

I went down the hill that we were taking pictures on to see something...I can't remember what...but then I saw that Emerson was trying to follow me. So I decided to take pictures of how well this hill thing would work out with his crawling. SO here is the progression...
a little closer...
a bit closer...starting down hill...
Then the roll...
It was so cute. I wish that I could have getten more, but I decided that I needed to go help him. If you look closely, you can see grass falling from him pulling it and having it in his hand before he rolled.
